Supermacs Galway Hurlers Christmas Lunch   12/12/2012

Supermac's Family Restaurants, along with the Galway Senior Hurling Team and Management, are delighted to announce the Supermac's Galway Hurling Player's Christmas Lunch, which is taking place in The Salthill Hotel on Sunday, 23rd of December.  Following on from the team's enormous success this year - competing in two All-Ireland finals and receiving an overwhelming number of All-Star Awards - this special event in the lead up to Christmas will raise funds for the team's much-deserved trip to Dubai, where they will engage in intensive training.

While their time in Dubai will allow players the opportunity to unwind and relax in early January, they will also participate in a number of training sessions with an eye to the coming season and challenges ahead.  Tickets for the lunch are priced at €30 each and all funds raised will go towards facilitating this holiday.

As a member of the organising committee, Fergal Moore, Captain of the Galway Senior Hurling team says:  "As a team we are very proud of the work we put in at training and on the pitch all year - although there was a certain amount of disappointment with the outcome on our second All-Ireland.  Since then, we really haven't been able to take time off as it's been ‘business as usual' for most of us who are working full time or in college.  The funds raised at the Supermac's Galway Hurler's Christmas Lunch will afford us the opportunity to get away together, relax and train in a different setting."

Speaking at the launch of the Supermac's Galway Hurler's Christmas lunch, Anthony Cunningham, Manager of the Galway Senior Hurling Team says:  "The lads have worked incredibly hard this year. I'm very proud of their achievements and would love to see them get the chance to relax, take a break and enjoy what's been a fantastic season.  To facilitate this trip  I know the appreciation of the Galway Hurling supporters will gather and contribute in a small way on the 23rd for what will be a lovely occasion and an opportunity to look back over the year had and set down new ambitions for the New year."

Pat McDonagh, Official Sponsor of Galway Hurling and Managing Director of Supermac's says:  "Galway have really proven their ability as a team this year in playing two All-Ireland Finals, and their success over the summer brought so much joy and excitement to everyone in the county.  I think it's important that we show gratitude to the team for all they've given us, and that their dedication to their county is rewarded.  This will be an afternoon for Galway Hurling fans to look back over a momentous year for the game."

The Supermac's Galway Hurler's Christmas lunch will feature top performers, dancers and musical entertainment beginning at 1pm.  For further information telephone 085 861 4084 or visit supermacs.ie
