Moycullen and Sarsfields all set for Minor B1 decider   07/11/2012

They've had to wait an extra two weeks for this match but what a prospect in store this Sunday as the years PIER HEAD BAR & RESTAURANT Minor B1 Hurling Championship FINAL takes place with the lads of Moycullen and Sarsfields facing each other for the honours.

Note: we had this final already previewed so we will just repeat and update it here.

For Moycullen, after their intermediates great exploits this time last year, it is another county final as their minor hurlers are now just 60 minutes away from lifting the title (note their Junior C1's are also in a semi-final). They performed well throughout the group, winning four matches and only losing the one to an impressive Ballinasloe side.
They had a comfortable win over Sylane in the quarter-final, but were pushed the whole way by Meelick-Eyrecourt in the semi-finals.
The side has very good balance, with a strong backline supported by forwards able to take their scores.

Sarsfields too had their tough battles on the way to this final. They lost one group game to Padraig Pearses, and had narrow group wins over both Kiltormer and Sylane. They had another narrow escape in the quarter-finals as even 4 goals for Michae Cusacks wasnt enough as Sarsfields scored 5! They again were pushed the whole way by Ballinasloe in the semi-final and had to dig deep in that match to come through.
Like their opponents on Sunday, they are a very determined group who dont give up easy and always battle til the end. They have come on much since the beginning of the campaign and now are eyeing the silverware.

This championship has been one of the most keenly contested ones this year so far. 11 sides competed in this, and both Moycullen and Sarsfields have already tasted defeat on route to this final. Several sides could rightly feel that they themselves could be togging out in Kenny Park on Sunday, but it is testament to the Moycullen and Sarsfields panels that it is them who'll be in the dressingrooms. They have both got here on merit and displayed their true club spirits along the way.

With both this years Minor A and Minor B finals both resulting in draws, what are the chances here on Sunday making it a hat-trick?
Hard to call. I'm not budging off the fence on this one!

The Man with the Cap
