Gort and St.Thomas......the sequel!   01/11/2012

With Loughrea already through to this years 2012 SALTHILL HOTEL Senior Hurling Championship FINAL, it will take another match between rivals Gort and St. Thomas to see who faces them.

After playing out a draw in terrible conditions last Sunday, South Galway duo Gort and St. Thomas must face again in what will be their 4th major contest in 12 months. With Gort winning last years county semi-final, also winning this years Round 1, and last weekend's match being a draw, there is no denying the "healthy" rivalry between the two clubs!

As with all replays, this match on Sunday is really a hard game to. St. Thomas took their lead the last day and held on to it til the closing minutes. One feels that it is vital that they take the lead again this time around, and from what we've seen in replays this year alone, that it can be difficult to come back from behind especially if were ahead in the first game.
Gort are beginning to be one of those sides that it is hard to put away. You can be sure that they will be in contention again right up to the final whistle, but with such experience and talent in their side, that it could happen that if they take the lead early that their opponents may find it difficult to pull them back.

Note: this tie is part of a brillant double header in Kenny Park on Sunday. This match throws in at 1:00pm as the curtain raiser to the 2012 Finnerty Plant Intermediate Final between Ahascragh-Fohenagh and Killimordaly. Hopefully the weather will hold off and we can have a great occasion with penty of excitement and action.
