Barna-Furbo and Sylane to clash in Junior A quarter   24/10/2012

On Monday in Turloughmore the fourth of this years GULLANES HOTEL Junior A quarter-finals takes place. It brings together the unique pairing of two Junior Clubs Barna-Furbo and Sylane. Both sides will be hoping to claim a Semi Final spot against the winners of Portumna and Castlegar who drew last week.

Barna-Furbo gained their spot in the last eight after a group play-off with Portumna and Craughwell when all sides finished on 6 points. I witnessed the Barna-Furbo men in action this year and was very impressed  with their well drilled determined outfit. They will certainly be in with a good shout this year.

Sylane who are in the Junior A ranks a good bit longer than Barna-Furbo will no doubt have been boosted with the return of the football contingent from Corofin after their recent exit of the Championship. They have been getting to the knockout stages more often than not in recent years and may feel thats not enough anymore, so you can be sure they are going to give it everything this year.

These two sides posess some quality hurlers both in attack and defence and both will feel they have a good shot at a title. This will be a tough battle with two sides that are fairly familiar with each other but have no doubt this will be a good game to watch. Not to sound patronising but there is serious work been done in coaching and development in both these clubs and where they are today is testament to that.

Whoever wins this game will have a good chance this year and will cause serious problems for their next opponents you can be sure of that.

That result jumps Ballygar to the top, while Michael Breathnach lose out for the second place to Loughrea due to the result between them in the previous group match in which Loughrea beat them. It will be disapointment for the Connemara side who won their final two group matches against tough oposition from Liam Mellows and Turloughmore.
