The first of this years quarter-finals in the GULLANES HOTEL Junior B Hurling Championship will take place this Sunday with the Sarsfields and Beagh sides facing each other for a right in the semi's.

The men of South Galway topped their group, although they did it the hard way after losing their opening match to Abbeyknockmoy. The Beagh lads are always a tough opposition, and get even tougher this time of year.

So, the first of four interesting quarter-finals in this years Junior B Championship, in one of the most wide open championships of the year. Any one of the 8 remaining sides can feel they can lift the title. We'll be down to 7 by Sunday evening!

GROUP A
Qualified:
Beagh (group winners), Abbeyknockmoy and St. Thomas.

Was this the group of the season?
There was practically nothing to seperate these 6 sides, but only 3 could get out. How close this group was that even the top side Beagh and bottom side Craughwell drew in their final matches, and only 3 points separated 1st place and 6th place.
Although Beagh lost their opener, they regrouped well and won their 3 middle matches. Abbeyknockmoy finish second, with their two defeats to bottom two sides Craughwell and Spideal. St. Thomas' pip Spideal for the 3rd place spot with a final match draw. Kilnadeema-Leitrim, An Spideal and Craughwell all finish one point behind St. Thomas in a season of "what could have been".
