The Galway Club hurling scene is well and truely back in action after the extended run of our County Senior Hurlers, with an action packed past couple of days to set the tone for the coming weeks.

Top of the billboard this weekend was the PIER HEAD MINOR B Final and what a cracker that turned out to be. A large crowd attended in Loughrea to see St. Thomas and Portumna play out a non-stop epic that resulted in a late draw. The two sides must now meet again to decide the title.

Also playing in Loughrea before that match was the first of the SENIOR HURLING SHIELD quarter-finals. This senior match turned out to be a draw with Kinvara and Tommie Larkins setting the tone of intent for those senior clubs wanting to get something out of their season, as both went all out in this Shield tie.

There was also one match in the INTERMEDIATE HURLING SHIELD as Ballindereen put in an impressive show to outscore their opponents from Kilnadeema-Leitrim.
